Madinah : Free and Easy and how it can easily be ruined!

Our daily route to the masjid. Only 5 mins away.

The visit to Raudhah early this morning left us with not enough sleeping. It was awesome to visit the Prophet on the day he was born . We all finished late, rested and fell asleep. Overslept. The azan woke us up; confused and the world seemed to move around. I hurried to the masjid not to miss Fajr prayer. As it only a few blocks away . I made it just in time.

The entrance of the mosque

The rest of the day spent chilling in the mosque (ie , i’tikaf) and keeping up with the luggages. Just to make sure they didn’t breed excessively; although a few extra is expected.

The afternoon sun was burning hot so either stay in the mosque or in your hotel room.

Madinah was the place to chill. The atmosphere was relax and lay back kinda thing….until they said the bellman couldn’t find my luggage.what ?! They lost my bags… two of them. As of 4:32 pm the bags were still missing.

The ones with colourful cover went missing

I thought my lungs just exploded and my hearts dropped. When I asked, everyone just put their gdamn fingers together to mean “wait for a while….”. I don’t know about five fingers but I can give you back one middle finger. What a dork!

I have been thinking what was inside the two bags. My bag contains my new shoes, some souvenirs from UK and Mecca and my old stinking clothes. Money-wise they cost around two hundreds pound(£200). Not that much, really, but no one would give me £200 or those stuff back. The other bag might have the same items more or less. Cost around £200-£300 .Now that I know the reality of the incident,I don’t have to get crazy over it or lost my head because of it. I feel much much better now alhamdulillah. If my two bags were not destined to come with us then let them be. I might get the better ones. I wish them bon voyage. If their fate is with us then they will come back eventually . I prayed hard this time to not let this small thing ruins my trip.

Update:

The two bags came back to the hotel. The bags went on a bus to Mecca ;about an hour into the journey, they realised the mixed up and hired a taxi to pick the luggage up. We put them in the lobby and went to the masjid for Jumaat prayers. A mixed up occurred there and then. I am so glad we got them back.

After Asr we decided to go to the airport. Chaos at the airport should be expected so being early would give us plenty of time to resolve if something came up.

The ride with uber took about 30 mins as the Friday afternoon traffics were not heavy.checking in was not always easy here and today the same thing happened.

“This one has to be wrapped!” he sounded like a judge giving down a decree. No else and no buts. I was at the counter after a long queue and you want me to go back outside and wrap this shit up! I swallowed my pride, my anger and my ego and rushed outside. So that was done and we were clear to go.

Before moving to the departure hall we spent time at this beautiful mosque just outside the airport. After Isya’ we left the mosque and that was my final sight of Madinah alMunawwarah.

Good bye Madinah!
