Last Ten Nights(#8)

6:41 pm . Iftar was okay alhamd dates dipped in yogurt and cheese puff. For this month I have yet to buka puasa with nasi. Alhamd okay je. You will feel light for Maghrib/Isya and Taraweeh.

One Mat Indon hogged a space reserved for someone else. He stole the space and made the original person occupied the space look bad and drummed up a ruckus until everyone joined in. First he was rejected and tried to find another space behind him—— which is in my row. There was a small space beside me enough for him but I kept quiet. Didnt like that kind of attitude. Then finally the rightful owner of that space gave up and moved somewhere else. He got the space all for himself— what an attitude. He can speak Arabic very well so can easily blend in. Even more so to despise him. Hahahah jealousy in overdrive today. After Maghrib he disappeared, hhmmmm maybe went makan nasi somewhere…….i was still there munching the rest of my dates from iftar.

Between Maghrib and Isya I stayed on ;this pakcik offered to check my Quranic reading(tasme’). So there was I reluctantly reading to this man from Egypt because I didn’t have any reason to refuse him hahahah. He left for toilet not sure he will be coming back or not. But his stuff is still here. I know it is a long way down and out so hopefully he will make it.

Isya’ prayers.

My next neighbour made his way back just in time for Isya’. Alhamdulillah. The crowd, generally has toned down, busy but not crazy as yesterday. The space for prayers also has plenty for everybody tonight. In the next day or two, people start to leave Mecca. I will be here insyAllah for Eid before heading to Jeddah and Madinah. We will fly out of Madinah in the following week to end our extraordinary journey that I have never imagined to materialize.

A lot of things in my mind trying to sort out the impact of this journey. One thing for sure— I will see the world(Islamic world that is) in a new perspective. Generally poor but full of life both exciting and challenging. Forget about our history with the British or Portuguese; they are in the past. Who cares how do you hold your fork and spoon. Our Islamic culture is bigger and beyond that.

The sad part is that many prefer to “look poor” which in reality they may necessarily not.

I saw diversity in a very interesting way. We are different, yes of course, but instead of intimidating one another we should celebrate our differences. It is hard to accept our different views if one is not ready to be open, sacrifice own interests and willing to change.our history started more than 1444 years ago. A long and rich spectrum of traditions and cultural evolution. Islam reached Kyrghystan , the mountains and the plain of central Asia in the 8th century. It was a long way to come here but many can be seen and can read The Quran very well. They like to read out loud the whole place could hear them. But they speak Russian, maybe persian some turkish and their local language. So not much of communication happened with them. Sometime they offered tea and bread; quite good. I wish could go to their place someday.
