Day 7.1: London – Houseboats

With Mahfuzh

Mahfuz (a friend living in London) came to help us with the luggage. He dropped us at the bus stop for another day in the city. But before that he showed us the Venice of London where the houseboats moored. Boating has been the favourite past time of many British. In the summer, especially they would go around boating in the many canals in England. The networks of canals have existed during the 1800 the time when coal was the main fuel for ships; big and small. The canals would end up at the many ports around England.

Now some of them even live on the boats that moored most of the time by the bank. The boats have a specific address at the location of the moor. “Rosie and Jim” lived on a houseboat. They were the famous children character in a TV show back in the 90s. The song Rosie and Jim suddenly escaped my lips as the good times watching them with my kids almost everyday in the past.

A unique community in London .
Beautiful houseboats
Someone was singing in the tent. Homelessness in Britain— maybe she should find a boat also.
It started to rain but we couldn’t resist to stop look at this interesting sight.
