We just crossed into the Saudi airspace on a flight to Jeddah. The time was 11:53 pm Malaysian time. Everyone seemed restless after long hours sitting in a cramped seat trying to find a good movie. Every single one just so boring and outdated. Aarghhhh my Netflix selection has more interesting playlist than this one.
Dinner was okay. Nothing fancy of course we were in economy class. In this airline they call it “Guest class”; whatever, it’s still the same thing .I liked the red rice with meat; I think it was meant to be baryani. But it was okay, tasted good and the meat was tender. There was “ bubur sagu” for desert and some kind of yogurt smoothie to go with it. Simple and served the purpose. I remember Saudi airline meals were used to be extravagant even in economy. That was some time ago …long long time ago
It was chaotic earlier, before we took off. A man was not given his allocated seat( for some reason ) and the crew asked him to sit next to me as it was empty. He was furious and refused to give in. He pointed at me and said “ he even looked sick to me,I don’t want to sit there”…… seriously, you called me sick to my face in front of everyone! I was about to start my engine but realised it was too early to be a fool… I have a long journey ahead of me. This stupid little thing should not ruin my dayJust a terrible and arrogant old man. He went back and things got quiet again and we took off. Somehow it always happened on Saudi flights. Chaos. Chaos. But once the door closed everything will get settled eventually.
It was a scary sky. The thick black cloud was hanging ghostly ahead and the plane went right in to it. The whole cabin was shaken terribly and the SIA incident a few days ago kept flashing on me. I could feel ,however, the powerful thrust that this plane put out to take us through the mean looking clouds. The flight was bumpy again as we left the Aceh air space and into the wild sky over the Andaman Sea; the spot where the SIA plane got into trouble. We were fine , alhamdulillah .
I wanted to sleep off for the rest of the flight but the coffee kept me awake. Ended up looking at the flight info screen, in the dark while everyone else mostly was in a deep sleep.
Our destination this time is Turkiye. I always wanted to go there to see all the places that were mentioned in the Quran and Hadith. Where the companion of the prophet (Abu Ayub al-ansori(ra) fell in the battle .The place called Izmir where Alexander the great went into battle with the Persians. And of course Hagia Sofia, the last Christian front fell when Sultan Muhammad al Fateh conquered Constantinapole. The historical sites of the past glorious empires and a lot more. Such a long bucket list in such a short time and limited budget. But I hope for the best and to enjoy whatever we will find in the next 20 days. This is a DIY trip so anything can happen and for sure nobody will be blamed for any glitch etc.
As we approaching miqat, my eyes started to get tired. Time to go easy and ready for landing. Jeddah. So close to Mecca but yet so far for us this time around. Cannot enter due to haj. Maybe next time insyAllah.
