The Beach

Sunday at the beach
Rafting
Children play under the hot sun

It was Sunday and the streets were still empty when we headed out. We wanted to explore the nearby beach — konyaalti beach. Google map said about half an hour by bus and listed all possible bus schedules going to the beach. So we followed. Walked and stopped and walked again. Missed the bus stop and went around a few times. The fact was that it’s Sunday – no bus going that route today. So we were told in a few broken sentences. The day was getting hotter and we decided to walk instead of waiting for the bus. It seemed many people just walked along and I assumed they were going to the beach as well. I was right and people were going with their chairs, umbrellas, mats and bagful of food. Well the stuff for a day’s picnic that was.

Clear sky. What a beautiful day.
Prayed Dzuhr at the mosque
Okd town Antalya
Stopped for chay (20 lira) and kunafe(180 lira)

I guess summer time is really happening here. Many of the girls were with two-piece bikinis under that sexy black laced overall.phewwww not the Turkiye I always imagined — traditionally covered up kinda thing. No nooo…. Turkish women are very modern , happy and sexy….. and they smoke too!. Sorry if uncle sounded like an ass but I was trying to adjust my lenses and absorbed this new perspective.

As Erdogan politics being the reference of our PMX, will this become the picture of our society in the future? For the moment, I felt a surge of uncertainties. I wanted for our society to change and move forward to fit in the morden world. But again change has consequences. And my future generations will pay those consequences. Would it worth it?

Old tram

Anyway, back to Antalya. We arrived late in the afternoon and took a taxi to our hotel Munchen Pansyion. It was in the old town area. The streets were narrow, cobbled and like part of a big maze; similar to old medina in Morroco.

Enjoying summer night
Excited dried veggies seller

We were in the middle of an entertainment hub where the pubs and clubs played music way into the morning. They sold beers and wines openly in the pubs and restaurants. How is this a muslim country? I was confused again.

Misty Morning

Turkiye is blessed with amazing landscape and natural beauty. In this summer time they seemed to enjoy every bit of it.
