At the hotel we were served Turkish breakfast. the same thing every day. After a while you will get bored and eat selectively.

There were cheese rolls (fried), sausages, french toast, all kind of cheese, fruits, sweets, cakes and bread. About 150 lira if paid. Some hotels gave also a few selection of salad , sautéed onions and some strange vegetables dishes. Not much meat in the morning.
Food at the restaurant will cost around 300 lira a plate (50 ringgit) plus another 200 lira for a drink. Once in a while that will do but twice a day( lunch and dinner) then you will piling up your CC bills. So it’s not cheap to feel hungry in Turkey.

We brought a travelling rice cooker along so in desperate times just cook some rice and eat it with serunding or eggs etc. Just simple dinner will do to crunch the hunger strike. Noodles would also do the trick so pack them up as much as you can.

In Bursa I tried pilav ( buttered rice) for 50 Lira—- so nice must find the recipe and cook at home. Iskender doner also famous and it ranges in portions and varieties. Baklava and kunefe are a must try thing and not cheap as well 99 lira a kilo and kunefe 180 lira in a small plate. That’s 30 ringgit for a few bites of extremely sweet dessert. So for budget traveller like me food tasting is not on the top list. A big loaf of local bread is only 10 lira so that is good to have for lunch especially.

A small mineral water goes for 10 lira at most kiosks. The bigger ones go for twenty liras. But in a grocery store such as A101 you will get cheaper .
