Ohrid, Macedonia

Lake Ohrid

The city by a lake. The Wet and windy weather made it look like the winter is coming faster this year. But we went on a cruise anyway just to be bounced left and right; the main ingredient of sea sickness. I hate to be sick but my tummy started to grumble and my head spun like a circus ride. The cruise was a mistake so I sat back and waited for the boat to stop rocking. Some strange musics came on and my head spun twice faster.

Old stoned street in Ohrid

Amidst the gusty wind the boat managed to dock and we got off into the rain. The rain just made the day to end; but no! we walked further through the shopping arcade to reach a pearl shop. Along the way our tour guide talked about the town and famous traders that made the town famous. Okay I got it,Macedonians were once a great nation and you should be proud of it. But to keep riding on the ancient stories would not change anything. Move on my friend!

After the cruise

Anyway my legs were giving away and your stories were becoming a fairtale. I need my room now and dinner…. what about dinner! The. cold weather made me hungry. So far food is delicious I mean I would clean the plate in no time. The turkish dishes – chicken pilav or pizza- rekindled my mediterranean taste buds. A delicious taste that could not be found back home. My maggi packs are still intact untouched.

Wet and windy Orhid
Tri Lece

Today’s dinner was superb – chicken green curry and cakes ( wow I was swept away with the cakes). Not a cake but a traditional Balkan sweet called trilece. Like bread pudding. I am diabetic and cakes are poisonous especially after 8pm. But those cakes were so tasty I just could not pass it on. My blood glucose reading the next day was 7.8 ( urgggh what the heck!). The thing is that my doc would give me another lecture on health and commitment. Do you want me to increase the dose? or you want to stop cheating yourself? My future doc’s appointment looks so miserable.

I slept well despite the cold wind sipping  through the window cracks.

By 8:00 am we were on the way to Albania.

The weather was fine and we made a few stops along the way.
