The ad

For a long time I pondered how to take advantage of the long school holidays and do something for the kids. I waited and waited and one school holidays after another passed by but it was quiet.Nothing. and we were happy to spend time on the journey balik kampung.

This time I gathered a small team and put forward a proposal for a mengaji program. Simple and straightforward. So I thought!. The ad was blasted over our chat groups and a few positive feedback surfaced from the comments and conversations. A registration was called through a google form. Nothing moved for the first few days, my excel sheet has no entries. No one bothered to register. Ouch! What’s wrong?! trying to find reasons why such a cold feedback. The ad was reposted to remind everyone to register. A couple of names made into my spreadsheet. then after a few days, a few more names were sent in. By the time we sat down on the first day, 21 kids were present and later the number increased to 28. Our target was 30 participants; so the final count there was not that bad.Alhamdulillah.

Sorting the snacks

The kids were from the age of five upto 15 and they seemed to be very committed and well behaved. Not the type that run all over the place and make nuisance. Although some were restless waiting for the turn to read but they stayed in the group and played quietly. So nothing made me nervous and hyped up my anxiety.

Occasionally, I took over a group just to know the level of their reading and helped around. It was not easy and surprisingly a delicate and challenging task. But don’t worry, I told myself, this is the first step and next time around you would know better.

For five days, we faced this challenging task and hoping for a better program next time. If there is a next!

Majlis Penutup

Alhamdulillah. Thank You everyone!
