A busy street in Ankara<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Ankara\u2019s a big, modern and vibrant city. The Saturday\u2019s crowd was huge, noisy and fast. We arrived in the afternoon from Cappadocia and directly went to find the Metro. After a few stops, we got out at the city center( I supposed!) along attaturk rd. Ankara has a complex web of underground streets and crossings. We were confused and ran around a few times until mr google told that we have arrived at our destination. The hotel was right there in the middle of busy district on Konur road. I saw Istanbul pilav (rice) piled up at the front of a restaurant and my stomach growled immediately. Locked the location would come back to that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The room was standard, nice and comfortable. We rested for a while and then headed out to find a mosque for our Zuhr\/Asr prayers. Backed to the streets to join the crowd and walked towards the nearest mosque. The weather in Ankara was a bit cooler; the rain was coming down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kacapete Mosque is huge. I admired the majestic view of its domes,minarets and massive compounds. Uniquely, most masjid here were built with shops at the lower level and praying hall at the upper level. As this mosque has a big supermarket at the bottom; I just could not imagine how much the mosque collected the rent. Such a brilliant synergy that will make the mosque sustainable financially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on we strolled down Attaturk Blvd and ended up at a market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cheese. Some of the cheese Ive never seen and tried. Delicious.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

By Maghrib we stopped at Osmanli Mosque and then returned to rest for our early morning flight to Sanlurfa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Osmanli Mosque has modest look located below a bridge highway.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
But still well maintained and beautifully decorated.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Back to Konur St with tired looking.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
