Nowadays I call Wakaf Bharu my new kampung. For the last 30 over years , I have been returning to this small town whenever possible. People have started to accept me as one of their lads and I can feel this is home. Wakaf Bharu is a amall town about five mins from KB on the way to Tumpat\/Geting FTZ. Once this town was an important train stop for those travelling to Kl\/JB. In those days when train was the main way to travel, WB was important. But as our road systems have improved and the train journey turns into \u201c a slow ride to the city\u201d, WB has been marginalized almost forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The station, as the heartbeat of WB, has lost its appeal. Although, it has new coaches with aircond and modern interior, the crowd isn\u2019t there. No one rushed to catch the train anymore. No queues waiting at the plaform to enter the coach. None. It was quiet at most of the station. I happened to ride once to get back to Nilai,N9 and it took ages to reach home. Nowadays we cannot afford the time to be on such a long journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WB now functions as a pitstop to Tumpat\/Geting; the town itself has nothing to offer. Maybe if we could list a few interesting places to stop by ; the following worth your precious time :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday Morning Market. Happened every Friday from morning until 12:00 . The crowd is crazy if the weather is nice and you will find all sort of things being sold at a very cheap price. Parking is a bit tricky but we all just squeeze in wherever possible.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Kopitiam Galoq. A nice and cozy restaurant serving a x of local and western food. Favorite for breakfast.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

By 6pm the small town of Wakaf Bharu becomes empty almost deserted.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Masjid Wakaf Bharu. A local mosque that has a long history as it is one of the few remaining buildings that grow with the town itself. With a new facelift the mosque offers better prayer hall and extended space for other activities. Plenty of parking space as well.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Kg Laut Mosque was the first mosque in Kelantan back to its original location by the riverbank in Kg Laut.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
