Friday at the beach

Pantai Geting,Tumpat

The pines kept us safe from the heat
The brutal monsoon left a reminder that will return and rage this place again

Fridays vibe differently in my kampung. The sun shines lazily to greet morning market goers. Every Friday the market will be a chaotic scene of wheeling and dealing every imaginable aggro product from the surrounding kampung. The highlight of the week of some sort.

The anglers

But this Friday I ditched the market and drove to this beach about half an hour from my place. The place was quiet as we arrived early. Everyone must be at the market(remember!). A few families were there to start their picnic; setting up the tent and started the bbq going. I dragged my feet through the sand to reach the water edge. The tide was low and the wave weakly tried to wet my shoes. Wow! the shore already filled with the anglers lining up as if a competition lis going on.

“Is there a competition going on today?” I asked one of them. “No! we are just chilling “, the guy responded. Looking at them, they must be here all night. It should be nice to be here at the early hours and catch the sunrise.

The sun started to heat up as I walked along the beach. I felt my day was already complete and it was not even 8 o’clock yet. The sea breeze occasionally blew in to chill. But the quiet wind made me realised how peaceful this place is. The opportunity to wind down from a busy week. But as a pensioner my week was already quiet with a low profile of my daily routines. My life is a chill however some people see it as a pack full of boredom. I don’t mind sitting all day looking at the ocean and listening to the waves. What a wonderful life to be able to enjoy the nature at my doorstep.

leaping the stress away

As the morning dragged on, it was unbearable to walk in the open. Everyone started to escape under the trees and sit in the shadow. There was no more fun to stick around so we left.
